The ERAMET Group has a policy of sustainable development, supporting the guiding principle that all the group’s manufacturing activities must comply with all current regulations, and that all processing plants must be operated and developed in line with best practice and technology.

Certifications

ERAMET sets strict environmental standards for its own operations and works closely with the Norwegian authorities to ensure that all regulations are followed and that improvement targets are continually set. The company is certified in accordance with ISO 14001, the standard for environmental management systems. The Kvinesdal, Sauda and Porsgrunn plants is certified in accordance with ISO 50001, the standard for energy management.

We set high environmental standards for ourselves and pursue our goals systematically.

Emissions permits issued by the Norwegian Environment Agency govern the company’s overall activity. Maintaining close dialogue with stakeholders, including neighbours, politicians, regulatory authorities and academia, is central to Eramet Norway’s environmental protection efforts.

Climate-efficient operation with ETS

Since 2013 the ETS system (European Trading System for Carbon Emissions) has been effective in Norway. Multiple incentives for climate-efficient operation are built into the system, and Eramet Norway intends to use ETS as a tool to further enhance its competitive edge.

Eramet Norway can proudly boast that we have one of the world’s cleanest production processes in environmental terms.

Research and development for a better environment

At Eramet Norway’s processing plants, we are constantly seeking better solutions where energy and the environment are concerned. The development group in Trondheim, which has the goal of becoming a leading centre of expertise in on-site applied research, has a productive working relationship with the production departments.
